Poem analysis "Eulogy of Roaches by Bienvenido Lumbera"

Discuss the overall meaning of the poem?
It is all about the cockroaches which are said to be honored on the grounds that they have a ton of things to be grateful for. They don't have laws that they have to follow to have peace as they are additionally ready to endure the blemishes of each other, be it the scent or avarice. They don't pass judgment on each other and doesn't battle to discover any houses to stay as they can live wherever they need. They don't even need to work with a specific end goal to consume for the sustenance’s are now laid for them, they simply need to search for scraps in the places of their hosts. Their survivals are additionally guaranteed actually for the jobless bug, in light of the fact that once the waste heaps up, circumstances will come. Likewise, cockroaches can exist much after their hosts bite the dust.

How this poem relate to your life and the society in general?
This poem identifies with me and the society when all is said in done, one might say that all individuals are carrying on with regardless of how intense life is. They find themselves able to discover survival in a place that is not simple to live with; as it is loaded with diverse difficulties that people need to be overcome enough keeping in mind the end goal to surpass it. This sonnet shows us to be similar to cockroaches, not to say that we ought to be vermin like them. At the same time rather, we ought to be grateful for what we've got regardless of how little it might be. We ought to acknowledge what we have and figure out how to esteem it, furthermore to not cry about what we don't have.

Write a response poem for it?

Every single day, we encounter struggles, storms, pain and trials in our life but the thing is you will learn from it. You should appreciate that you have a life to live. It is much more extravagant than other material things. Live your life like a cockroach. Battle for survival; don’t let hardships prevent you from living. Appreciate always the life that God gave to you and also capitalize your presence.

Visual Elements:
They used black and white screen. You can really feel that you are in the late 60’s and 70’s. The location is still there in the place where it happened. And the type of living is still emphasized the late 70’s. The props and costumes is also in the midst 70’s.

Conclusion:

I therefore conclude that the film is very interesting. It visualized the living and life of Filipino people during Marcos regime. We are very lucky to know what is happening during those days in our country. People is under the dictatorial managements of our late president Ferdinand Marcos. You can also see the negative effect and impact to our Filipino people during those times. We are now lucky than those who live during Marcos regime. We voice out what is in our mind and hearts in the leaders of our local and national government.

Essay for Dictatorship, Martial Law and EDSA People Power:

Ferdinand Edralin Marcos (1917-1989), president-dictator of the Republic of the Philippines from 1965 to 1986. Marcos twice elected as our president in the Republic of the Philippines before he declared Martial law and seized dictatorship in 1972. Our country claiming anarchy was near, Marcos declared Martial law in 1972, thereby suspending the 1935 constitution dissolving Congress, and assuming total power.
During the time of dictatorship only the president command is the voice of the Filipino people. We don’t have a freedom of expression. What the president want, president get. All the military people are under the command of the president. Then Martial law time comes that no people allowed outside the street past 7 in the evening. The military will pick you up and bring in the prison.
No one could do what they wanted to do reach or poor.Only the president and his army and family. Senator Benigno Aquino and his company fight the rights of our Filipino people that’s why they get in prison. He flew out the country and during his returned he got killed. Due to his death his wife late president Corazon C. Aquino and late Cardinal Sin lead a massive nonviolent protest known as the People Power Movement. It is the move to force President Marcos to stepped out from office.

His authoritarian regime is remembered for its rampant corruption at the highest level of government and its suppression of political dissent and the democratic process.

Protest Literature

Nowadays here in our beloved country Philippines we are practicing a Democratic Type of Government. We have a freedom of choice as well freedom of expression in our democratic country but it is still monopolize by other political people. We have a dirty politics here in the Philippines. Most of the politicians exercise vote buying as well eager to get the position so that they can dig more gold. They grabbed the opportunity mostly in the remote or demoted areas were people accepting money to buy their votes. You can only count on your fingers the really true server of the government.

It is very degrading in our nation this kind of act here in our beloved country. We need to educate people so that they know their freedom of rights. This is a free country but we most alert and stand for our rights. Protect the human rights of the Filipino people most likely the different organization. We can do it by helping hand in hand to educate the demoted areas here in our country. We teach and make them understand their right to vote. And also explain to them what are the advantages and disadvantages of their choice.

Historical Highlights during the Japanese Occupation

Bataan Death March which began April 9, 1942 was forcible transfer by the Imperial Japanese Imperial Army of 60,000-80,000 Filipino and American prisoners of war after three- month Battle of Bataan in the Philippines during World War II.  During that time approximately 2,500-10,000 Filipino and 100-650 American prisoners of war died before they could reach their destination at Camp O’Donell. We cannot count the exact number of Filipino died in that March Death. The March start at Maraviles Bataan to San Fernando, Pampanga survivors loaded to a box train and were brought to Camp O’Donell in Capas, Tarlac. Most of the Filipino prisoners suffer deep pain and brutal situation as well starvation and other illness. How dreadful their life during that time.

Reaction Essay about the March of Death(Japanese Occupation)

My reaction about the march of death is It is very tremendous to our ancestors the time of Death March(Japanese Occupation)  because they really suffer deep pain and brutal situation. The Japanese soldier’s intent to kill, brutalize, weaken and or demoralize the prisoners/captives. They really doesn’t care the feeling or situation of the Filipino prisoners or captives. You can see and feel the dreadful situation of our ancestors.
Most of them experience starvation, dehydration, humiliation and torture. They are physically abuse as well demoralize. Even they have illness or physical injuries still continue doing their assigned task. Their small cell is inside the train. Hundreds and thousands of them is there as a captives and prisoner.
The prisoners transported from San Fernando to Capas by trail. Hundreds or more of the prisoners were stuffed into each of the train boxcar, which were unventilated and sweltering in the tropical heat.  The train had no sanitation facilities, and disease continued to take a heavy toil of the prisoners. And after reach Capas they were force to walk the final 9 miles to Camp Donell, you can see that the survivors continue to walk and thousands of them die. Most of them were buried in mass graves the Japanese dug out with bulldozers on the outside of the barbed wire surrounding the compound. You see how dreadful and tremendous the situation of Filipino people during that time. You can really feel and see the abusive Japanese soldiers treat our ancestors that time. We are really lucky nowadays compared to that time of Death March.
